For those of you who didn't catch this documentary when it was aired on TV a little while ago, you can still watch it online on the BBC I-player! The documentary focuses on Bluebird girl Alicia and her daughter, offering intimate access to the extraordinary relationship they share. Whilst questioning the different options available to Georgia, Alicia's daughter, as she progresses into adulthood. Should she follow her mums advice and become a surgically-enhanced glamour model, or should she finish her education and get a proper job? Mr Paul Chaplin, owner of Bluebird and also Godfather to Georgia, makes an appearance and offers his own views and insights into the situation. RE: Alicia Douval & Paul Chaplin featured on BBC's 'Glamour Models, Mum and Me'
LOL, i saw his face on BBC 3 when i was flicking through the channels last night and thought i was seeing things. I just watched his bit on I player and was impressed. It's very good of PC to help Alicia like that for so many years. It was very sage advice he gave, I just hope his god-daughter followed it. The whole prog reminded me of the famous poem by Larkin:
They fuck you up, your mum and dad. They may not mean to, but they do. They fill you with the faults they had And add some extra, just for you. But they were fucked up in their turn By fools in old-style hats and coats, Who half the time were soppy-stern And half at one another's throats. Man hands on misery to man. It deepens like a coastal shelf. Get out as early as you can, And don't have any kids yourself. Put to music it could have won the X Factor!
