That's all sorted in the green room by the BlueBabes Smile

Hows does your smoking policy fall in line with the smoking at work act?

And when one of the babes starts suffering for smoke related medical problems and then decides to sue Bluebird will you still think that smoking on screen is worth it.

Sorry but you obvously haven't lost family members to this disgusting habit.

This has been discussed many many and many times on here so obviously you have not read earlier posts. The first thing i will point out is that generally people dont know the law and are uninformed. People have made assumptions with regards this legislation thinking smoking is banned full stop in enclosed public spaces/workplaces but they have not actually read the full legislation. I have done full research into the smoking law as i work in a legal profession and get asked about this all the time and quote the very same legislation that Bluebird quote. So here it is again and i just hope people stop asking about this now, its perfectly legal for the girls to smoke on Bluebird TV

2007 No. 765

PUBLIC HEALTH, ENGLAND

The Smoke-free (Exemptions and Vehicles) Regulations 2007

Made 7th March 2007
Coming into force 1st July 2007

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 3, 5 and 79(3) of the Health Act 2006[1] makes the following Regulations, a draft of which was laid before Parliament in accordance with section 79(4) of that Act and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:—

Performers
6. Where the artistic integrity of a performance makes it appropriate for a person who is taking part in that performance to smoke, the part of the premises in which that person performs is not smoke-free in relation to that person during his performance.

"My Lord it artistic integrity".

So if you answer a phone for a living, it's artistic. Huh

It will be an interesting case

Surely if a caller makes a request it is covered as artistic integrity.

Smoking is not a particularly nice habit and is medically proven to be hazardous to health. The Bluebabes are all adults capable of making their own decisions as to whether they wish to smoke or not. The non smokers have a right to a smoke free environment and Suday Sally says they can excercise this right in the green room before going on set.

I am a non smoker. I also have a fetish for smoking so was not a big fan of smokers being sent outside. The legislation was introduced to protect workers particularly in pubs and clubs. My attitude was that if you don't like bees you don't become a beekeeper. If you don't like smoking you work in a non smoking bar.

The non smoking babes don't appear to have a problem. If they do they have every right to complain to Bluebird and the authorities and so they should. I did see Sidney waft away some of Layla's smoke this morning and Layla straight away moved to another part of the Pink Pad set. Harmony was maintained.

A few posters on this forum have said that they find the girls smoking a turn off. I can see why but if you were lucky enough to take one of these lovelies out for a night would you insist on them not smoking?

Certainly I don't think this is a clear cut issue. The artistic clause was aimed at theatre and filming. Bluebird have interpreted it to cover their output. As I said at the start I can see how they have done so and am very grateful they have. We all know that it is impossible to please everyone but I think Bluebird have struck a reasonable compomise which will keep most people happy.

Its nothing personal i was just explaining the law. I think shep says it all in his post except the artistic clause includes TV output as well. Just to add this law has been challenged several times before and failed (remember its been aroud since July 2007 and even earlier in Scotland and Northern Ireland, for once ministers used a common sense approach when challenged). I wont go into detail as you can do your own research if you wish but as i have said its perfectly legal for the girls to smoke on Bluebird TV.

Absolutely not but as this is highly unlikely to happen for most viewers it probably ruins the image they have formed of the girl. It used to be up to your imagination (unless it mattered so much you had to ask) as to whether a girl was a smoker or not. Parading it on TV in front of people takes away that option.

Being a realist, I couldn't care less!
